Online Bachelor of Social Work (BSW)
The online Bachelor of Social Work program combines a strong liberal arts foundation with professional training in theory and meaningful field work. Completion of this program prepares you for entry-level roles and to apply for advanced standing in the Aurora University Master of Social Work (MSW) program.
As a student of the online Bachelor of Social Work program, you may choose to complete an Addictions specialization as part of your degree. Upon graduation, you will be qualified to take the Illinois Alcohol and other Drug Abuse Counselor (CADC) examination to earn certification. You may also complete additional credits to prepare for the Co-Occurring Substance Use and Mental Health Disorders certificate.
BSW students may also choose the Child Welfare track to gain Child and Adolescent Needs and Strengths (CANS) certification and Child Endangerment Risk Assessment Protocol (CERAP). After completing your degree, you’ll be eligible to obtain a Child Welfare Employee License (CWEL) upon employment at a child welfare agency.
Online Master of Social Work (MSW)
The online Master of Social Work program provides you with a foundation in generalist clinical social work practice and specialized study. You can choose tracks in Addictions, Child Welfare, Forensics, Gerontology, Health Care, Leadership Administration, Military and Veterans Social Work, or School Social Work.
Endorsements and Certifications
The online Professional Educator License in School Social Work endorsement program from Aurora University Online is designed for professionals who have earned a Master of Social Work degree and want to specialize their skills for school social work settings in Illinois. This online program can be completed in one year, is accredited by the Council on Social Work Education and approved by the Illinois State Board of Education.
The online Alcohol and Drug Counselor Certification program from Aurora University Online can be completed in six months and is designed for those who hold or are pursuing a social work degree. Students will take three online courses and gain hands-on experience in a required field placement. Graduates of this ICB-accredited program can pursue certification through the Illinois Certification Board. This certification can also be incorporated into AU’s online, CSWE-accredited BSW and MSW degree programs.
