Master’s of Arts in Mathematics and Science Education

Aurora University Online Master’s in Mathematics and Science Education

A love for math and science starts early; without encouragement, students can quickly lose interest in these subjects. U.S. News reports that a third of boys and girls lose interest in science by fourth grade, and the number grows to half by the time students enter eighth grade. These early learners have tuned out of math and science education before they even reach high school, setting off a warning for STEM educators.

Reach students early and inspire a new generation of STEM learners through exciting and engaging curriculum and specially designed lesson plans that speak to a child’s interests and foster continued growth and development in STEM subjects throughout their education.

Aurora University’s Master of Arts in Mathematics and Science Education for Elementary Teachers program is now offered fully online. This graduate program addresses the importance of STEM education at the elementary level and prepares teachers to implement advanced pedagogy methods for both mathematics and science subjects in these early classrooms. Aurora University’s online graduate program is designed specifically for elementary teachers and introduces them to the Next Generation Mathematics and Science Standards for advanced curriculum development and planning.

A New Approach to STEM Education

Aurora University delivers hands-on, experiential learning opportunities for teachers enrolled in our on-ground or online master’s in mathematics and science education programs. The Mathematics and Science Education Center of Aurora University was established in 2009 to provide teachers with real-time instructional lessons within a monitored classroom of students and community members. The center is the ideal setting for teachers earning their master’s degree.

Aurora University is currently establishing a multi-district partnership school on campus to serve as a training ground for new STEM teachers. This school will serve 200 students and give teachers access to real classrooms and real students for pedagogy development and training.
