Aurora University Online allows students to take advantage of their previous academic experiences. With a seamless transfer credit policy, students can earn a flexible degree at less cost to them.
AU Online accepts transfer credits when the following criteria is met:
- Student has earned a grade of at least a C-
- Previous credit compares to the credits offered by Aurora University
- Previous credit applies to programs offered by Aurora University
Bachelor’s Degrees
For bachelor’s degree programs, AU will accept up to 68 credits from a two-year institution and 90 credits from a four-year institution.

Graduate Degrees
Graduate-level credit with grade B or higher from regionally accredited institutions of higher education may be transferred to Aurora University and applied toward a master’s degree or other post-baccalaureate program prior to enrollment into AU Online with the approval of the program chair or school dean. Each graduate program limits the amount of credit that can be applied toward an Aurora University degree.
Community College Transfer Credit
AU Online will accept up to 68 transferable credit hours from community colleges. Students who have earned an Associate of Science or Associate of Arts from a regionally accredited college may have met all of the General Education Requirements. Students who do not have an associate degree will be required to complete all AU general education requirements, either through transfer coursework and/or AU coursework.
FAFSA
All transfer students should complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Upon acceptance to AU Online, students will be reviewed for eligible federal/state grants, federal loans, and institutional grants and scholarships.
Transcripts
Guidelines for transfer student transcripts are as follows:
- Undergraduate applicants who have earned AA, AS, or AAS degrees must submit official transcripts from all colleges and universities attended.
- All other applicants must submit a copy of their high school transcript or diploma in addition to official transcripts from all colleges and universities attended.

Students may use Aurora University’s Transfer Evaluation System to see how classes at many current or former colleges/universities may transfer for their degree. They may also request an unofficial transcript evaluation.
