Applying to an online degree program at Aurora University is simple requiring no application fee. Our student engagement specialists are here every step of the way to assist you through the process. Whether you have transfer credits, are using military benefits, or are an international student, our simplified process will get you learning quickly so you can make your professional goals a reality.
Key Admissions Dates
Below, you will find a list of upcoming start dates. The application deadline for all programs is the Thursday before each start date.
- Fall 1: 08/25/2025
- Fall 2: 10/20/2025
- Spring 1: 01/12/2026
- Spring 2: 03/16/2026
The following programs have limited start dates:
- Master of Science in Exercise Science: Summer 1, Summer 2, and Fall 1
- Post-MSW PEL Endorsement: Spring 2 and Summer 2
How to Apply to AU
There are only a few simple steps to follow once you have found the online program that’s right for you. Upon completing the online application form, you will be contacted by a student engagement specialist who will assist with application documents and transfer credits.
Tips for completing the admission requirements
- References
- A person familiar with your academic work/previous master’s program professor.
- A person familiar with your professional work, such as a manager, department chair, etc. (not the same person as below).
- A person representing your school district or employer who can assess your leadership potential.
- Resume
- Include a detail list of your work experience, educational background, professional experience, professional activities, honors, professional publications and/or presentations, and other relevant information relating to your leadership background.
- Personal statement
- This document should be typed, double-spaced, approximately 1,000 to 2,000 words in length, reflect standards of graduate level writing and demonstrate evidence of critical thinking.
- When answering “why have you chosen to pursue this degree” be specific to the area of study as you describe your present goals and interests and show their connection to prior experience.
- Make a connection to Aurora’s mission and values when describing why you have chosen to study at AU.
- If your undergraduate grade point average was below a 3.0, please explain the following:
- Why was your GPA below 3.0?
- Why do you think you can be successful as a graduate student at Aurora University?
- What strategies will you implement to ensure academic success?
- MSW
- Your personal statement should be typed, double-spaced, and no more than 1500 words that reflect standards of graduate level writing and demonstrating evidence of critical thinking.
